Ana Sofia was 15 years old when she wrote “The World” after coming home late from a friend’s birthday party on April 30th, 2023. Her dad picked her up and they listened to The Beatles Radio the entire way home. The song “The Long and Winding Road” came on and her dad talked about how deeply it had touched him and how it could resonate with anyone at any point in their life.
When she got home, Ana Sofia wrote this song in 20 minutes, reflecting on future struggles and how the world slowly unravels as you grow older. It speaks about realizing that the truth you once knew gradually fades away and all that you really need is one person to keep you grounded and prevent you from being carried away by it all.
The song stands as the ultimate friendship anthem, expressing a promise to be there for one another without judgment no matter what life brings.
While recording Ana Sofia’s first album, there was a list of songs she had written that they were considering including. They had completely forgotten about this one until it suddenly came back to Ana Sofia. Thankfully, because of that moment, it made it onto the album—and it is now one of her favorites.
The world just keeps on turnin
And I just don’t see a thing
The world just keeps on windin
I never know what it brings
You never leave
You never stare
When I call you’re always prepared
And when I’m lost
You keep my values straight
There’s no debate
So when you say you need me
It’s really I need you more
People saying things out there
And I’m starting to believe them
So many things making me scared
And I don’t know how to receive them
How do I stay strong?
And still belong
Please tell me Mr. Never Wrong
Cause I am lost
And need my values straight
Please don’t delay
So thanks for helping me
Cause right now I need you most
I know you’re busy this time of year
With all those calls
So thanks for letting me not fall
And just to make that clear
I know you need help
So call me when you wanna yell
But when my minds a mess
You keep me on the ground
And you know it wanders around
So I’ll be there for ya
Cause you’re there when I need you most
